È stato un percorso lungo ma ce l’ho fatta! Oggi presento il mio primo ritratto studiato personalmente dal primo all’ultimo istante. Influenzato da meccanismi certamente inconsci, ho inizialmente immaginato cosa si potesse realizzare per descrivere ciò che ogni essere umano porta dentro di se. Chiunque ha i propri lati nascosti, quelle parti difficili da portar fuori che serve una vita a comprendere e spesso anche accettare di avere; ed ognuno di questi lati a volte si manifesta nel silenzio, in quegli sguardi sospesi nel vuoto od in quelle frasi che vengono fuori senza essere mediate dal nostro filtro cosciente.
Volevo portare tutto ciò alla luce, ed ho quindi visualizzato in momenti diversi delle immagini, dei flash, di un volto tagliato in due dalla luce, con una macchia scura che si manifesta dinanzi ad esso, la stessa macchia che non si riesce ad affrontare quando ci si trova di fronte alle proprie paure, le proprie insicurezze e debolezze, e si ha timore oppure difficoltà ad accettarle.
Un’ora di scatti da differenti angolazioni per trovare la giusta luce, un trucco semplice ma efficace per lo scopo e per cercare di esprimere al meglio ciò che avevo da dire, in un solo scatto. Trovata la foto giusta ed elaborate le luci con un programma di fotoritocco, ho scelto per la realizzazione un’ottima carta Acquarello della Fabriano, formato 45x60 cm satinata e pressata a caldo, di un bianco naturale. Le mie “armi” predilette sono state le economiche ma efficaci matite della Koh-I-Noor in differenti gradazioni di grigio e con differenti morbidezze, l’intramontabile carboncino sparso e lavorato a pazienti pennellate, ed infine tocchi di bianco e nero con due matite: una Daler Rowney “black smooth” ed una Contè a Paris bianca.
Il risultato è quello che si può vedere. Noto ancora parecchi difetti, molte, anzi moltissime cose da migliorare, ma spero che quest’opera abbia trasmesso qualcosa a chi l’ha osservata, ma ancor di più, spero che abbia potuto far cogliere a qualcuno, qualcosa di diverso o integrativo a quello che io volevo raccontare. La tecnica si può certamente migliorare, ma è necessario anche dire qualcosa con ciò che si realizza, o almeno questo è ciò che mi piace fare nel mio caso; qualsiasi realizzazione, anche la più banale o accademica nel risultato, mi ha sempre detto qualcosa nel momento della scelta dell’immagine. È certo però che realizzare una immagine con un proprio scatto e rielaborarla sapendo che è tutta opera propria, da un certo punto di vista è decisamente più soddisfacente perché posso mostrare il 100% di me stesso.
Il titolo “The Dark Side of the Moon” si ricollega al tema già raccontato ed è stato preso in prestito da chi già sapeva come rendere le emozioni umane in parole e musica, i Pink Floyd (ascoltate e comprendete il brano “Brain Damage”).
La voglia è quella di realizzarne altri il prima possibile, raccontando sempre qualcosa di nuovo.

It was a long path, but I did it! Today I present my first portrait designed personally by the first to the last moment. Influenced by mechanisms certainly unconscious, I initially wondered what it could achieve to describe what every human being carries within himself. Anyone who has their own hidden sides, those parts are difficult to carry out serving a life to understand and often agree to have; and each of these sides sometimes manifests itself in silence, in those looks suspended in space or in those sentences that come out without being mediated by our conscious filter.
I wanted to bring everything to light, and I then displayed in different moments of images, flash, a face cut in two by the light, with a dark stain that manifests itself before it, the same spot that you can not deal with when there is opposite to their fears, their insecurities and weaknesses, and you have fear or difficulty to accept them.
An hour of shots from different angles to find the right light, a simple but effective make-up for the purpose and to try to express the most of what I had to say, in one shot. Found the right photos and elaborating the lights with a photo editing program, I have chosen for the realization of the great Fabriano watercolor paper, 45x60 cm format satin and hot pressed, as a natural white. My "weapons" of choice were the favorite economic but effective Pencils Koh-I-Noor in different shades of gray with different softness, the timeless charcoal then spread and worked in patients brushstrokes, and finally black and white touches with two pencils : Daler Rowney a "black smooth" and a white Conte a Paris.
The result is what you can see. I see still several flaws, many, indeed many things to improve, but I hope that this work had transmitted something to those who have observed, but even more, I hope he has been able to seize someone, something different or additional to that I wanted to tell. The technique can certainly improve, but you also need to say something with what is done, or at least that is what I like to do in my case; any implementation, even the most trivial or academic in the result, always told me something when choosing the image. It is certain, however, that making an image with just a click and rework it knowing that it's all his work, from a certain point of view is much more satisfying because I can show 100% of myself.
The title "The Dark Side of the Moon" is related to the theme already he told and was borrowed from those who already knew how to make human emotions in words and music, the Pink Floyd (listen and understand the song “Brain Damage”).
The desire is to realize other projects as soon as possible, always telling something new.
